Dusky Leaf Monkeys

On our way to Ao Manao beach today we took a detour to see the Dusky Leaf Monkeys. What a joy!

The Dusky Leaf Monkey, also known as the Spectacled Langur, can be found in forests within Thailand, Malaysia and Myanmar. They are distinguished by dark grey fur, a long tail, and white, glasses-like rings around their eyes.


These endangered, shy, and peaceful monkeys live in small groups and are known for being born with bright orange fur that darkens over time. 

These are so friendly and totally unlike the thieving monkeys in Sri Lanka, Bali and other parts of Asia. No need to ensure all your belongings are in your bag! When offered food, they politely take from your hand, and don't snatch.  Definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Prachuap Khiri Khan. 

There is no charge to get into the Historical Park. You just have to leave a passport at the army check point before entering.

Sri Lanka: the highs and lows of a month long trip

After a month of exploring Sri Lanka, we've packed our bags, ready to head back to the UK. I want to share some of the highs and lows of our adventure. Highlights Cheap : Our British pounds stretched remarkably far and we only  spent a total of  £1440 per person. The breakdown: £750 - Etihad indirect flights (1.5 hour stop off in Abu Dhabi)  £690 - Bed & Breakfast, dinner, all transport (bus, train, taxi), cultural entrance fees, hospital treatment, laundry and grocery shopping.  The People : Incredibly warm and hospitable, very friendly and eager to help. They really enjoyed stopping for a friendly chat on the street, and we felt genuinely welcomed as English tourists. Scenery : The views were breathtaking, particularly the hill country from a train.  Weather : Consistently hot and sunny. Time to go home

I sign off my travel blog with a brief post. Today we are heading home. George snored all night so I had no sleep - just ready for a long flight 😬 Cases are packed and both around 12kg each so well under the limit! 👜 It's been an amazing 4 month trip in Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Laos and Cambodia by sea, water, coach and train. 🚂✈️🚌🚢 It's very difficult to say what was my favourite part of the trip but Luang Prabang, Koh Lanta and Langkawi were highlights.  I'm not looking forward to the UK weather and I also need to find a job. Onwards to KL

We left the lovely island of Langkawi this morning. Our next stop is Kuala Lumpur. I highly recommend this beach resort and hopefully I will return again one day 🏖️ #kualalumpur #malaysia #airasia
