50 something on her travels

Yesterday we left Vientiane for Phuket via Bangkok. We had a 1 hour 45 minute connection in the airport using AirAsia and we felt this was enough time. Typical we wake up on our departure day and its thick fog and the plane is delayed by 1 hour 30 minutes.  The airline were great as they moved us to the executive seating at the front so we could get off the plane first. It must have been hilarious seeing a number of foreigners racing through security and up to the gate with only 20 minutes to spare. It was typical when we got to the gate they were 15 minutes late boarding. So thank goodness we got on with no trouble 🥳.  We were also quite chuffed that we left the younger runners in our wake who clearly spend more time on their mobiles than working out 😂. 

Yesterday we took an Air Asia flight from Phnom Penh to Bangkok. At check in we were asked for evidence of our onward travel from Bangkok.  We explained we had not booked our flights yet. The check-in assistant said we could not fly unless we proved we had sufficient funds to stay in Thailand and be able to afford to leave. She requested we each show her $500 in cash. Which meant leaving the long queue and walking to a cashpoint to withdraw a total of $1000. How ridiculous! We weren't having any of that and weren't getting anywhere fast so George called over the supervisor to have a word.  We were advised that we could travel but it was our responsibility if we were refused entry into Thailand. We said fine. We arrived in Bangkok and apart from being asked how long I was staying there was no issue. #airasia #cambodia #phnompenh
