Coffee with cats

A big tourist attraction in Chiang Rai is to visit the Cat 'n' a Cup cafe 😸.  Buy a drink and then sit with some furry friends. We were not very popular with the cats as we forgot to bring food😾 #coffee #cats #cafe #chiangrai

The Blue Temple

Today we took a leisurely and polluted walk over the River Kok bridge to Wat Rong Suea Ten.  This is also known as the Blue Temple or the Temple of the Dancing Tiger. The Blue Temple was designed by the student of the artist who built the White Temple.   The Blue Temple was rebuilt by locals and completed in 2016 but is seen as an ongoing restoration project. Personally I thought this temple was more stunning than the white one. #bluetemplechiangrai #chiangrai #temple

Chiang Rai's Clock Tower

The Chiang Rai Clock Tower, that also serves as a roundabout, has a nightly light show display.  After about a minute you've seen enough but I've added the changing colours below. I also added a video on my Facebook and Instagram.  #chiangrai #clocktower #lightshow

The dazzling White Temple

We visited Wat Rong Khun today - also known as the White Temple. Unlike other Thai temples this was only constructed in 1997 to replace the original one that was in disrepair. T he artist believes that by rebuilding this temple it will give him immortal life. The sight is truly dazzling, a little like the Taj Mahal.  Even my sunglasses struggled with the extreme brightness.  We decided rather than catching a taxi to instead take the local bus. It was truly an authentic experience!  It was around 50p per person for the 25 minute journey. We were lucky to get a seat at the back with an open window.  Which wasn't so pleasant with the fumes chucking out from other buses and traffic. There was no concerns about overloading the bus. Along the way more and more locals were piling on with some hanging out of the open door. 😲  #whitetemple #chiangrai #thailand
