We continued along the south coast to quiet Tangalle, one of the last beaches before the eastern national park. It's a welcome change from the crowded, tourist-packed resorts further west.
We're staying in a brand new apartment complex run by a lovely local family, thrilled to have their first British guests. They arrive excited on mass every morning to bring us a delicious breakfast! 🍳
Tangalle offers a great variety of beautiful beaches, easily accessible on foot or by a short bus ride. This coastline does have powerful waves and treacherous currents. So swimming is strongly discouraged.
We're here for seven nights so there will be zero culture and 100% reading under an umbrella on the beach 😎.
