10 hours from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur

Date 18 November

I start by saying always check if there is a general election before travelling into a country. Then you are prepared by booking transportation early.

As we are not in a rush we did not want to fly but wanted to get the train across the border. However with Malaysians flocking home to vote on 19 November, the train was fully booked. So the journey between Singapore and Malaysia was tiring and grim.

There were many parts to the journey:

In singapore:
Walk to train to get to border
Board bus to get to immigration (bun fight of bags, arms and legs)
Once through get on another bus to Malaysia (more chaos)

In Malaysia
Go through customs
Board another bus to go to bus terminal (more chaos)
Board coach for 4 hrs 30 bus journey to Kuala Lumpur
Change to board train to hotel

When we come back its either train or fly 😬

On a positive note it was as cheap as chips.

Sri Lanka: the highs and lows of a month long trip

After a month of exploring Sri Lanka, we've packed our bags, ready to head back to the UK. I want to share some of the highs and lows of our adventure. Highlights Cheap : Our British pounds stretched remarkably far and we only  spent a total of  £1440 per person. The breakdown: £750 - Etihad indirect flights (1.5 hour stop off in Abu Dhabi)  £690 - Bed & Breakfast, dinner, all transport (bus, train, taxi), cultural entrance fees, hospital treatment, laundry and grocery shopping.  The People : Incredibly warm and hospitable, very friendly and eager to help. They really enjoyed stopping for a friendly chat on the street, and we felt genuinely welcomed as English tourists. Scenery : The views were breathtaking, particularly the hill country from a train.  Weather : Consistently hot and sunny. To avoid the intense heat, we found it best to travel very early morning.  Lovely Beaches : Beautiful and clean, though the steep drop off and powerful waves made sw...

Time to go home

I sign off my travel blog with a brief post. Today we are heading home. George snored all night so I had no sleep - just ready for a long flight 😬 Cases are packed and both around 12kg each so well under the limit! 👜 It's been an amazing 4 month trip in Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Laos and Cambodia by sea, water, coach and train. 🚂✈️🚌🚢 It's very difficult to say what was my favourite part of the trip but Luang Prabang, Koh Lanta and Langkawi were highlights.  I'm not looking forward to the UK weather and I also need to find a job. But I'm looking forward to seeing friends and family.  Until the next time 👋 Tracy x

Onwards to KL

We left the lovely island of Langkawi this morning. Our next stop is Kuala Lumpur. I highly recommend this beach resort and hopefully I will return again one day 🏖️ #kualalumpur #malaysia #airasia
